The Habs got goals from two unlikely sources in Maxim Lapierre and Sergei Kostitsyn.
Kostitsyn got just his second goal in 24 games this season while adding an assist, and Lapierre netted his fourth having played in every game this season; Thomas Plakanec added to his team lead in points with his 14th goal of the season.
With the teams’ leading goal scorer Michael Cammalleri expected out for 6 – 8 weeks and Andrei Kostisyn due back sometime in March, the offensively anemic blue, blanc and rouge will need supplementary offence.
A few more bounces going their way couldn’t hurt either. The Canadiens currently sits in seventh place in the ever increasingly congested Eastern Conference just one point above three other teams.
